Has Ian Somerhalder come to grips with his television character’s imminent departure? Read on for more details.

Damon Salvatorre, the appalling vampire with a soft side has been hinted to be in his closing stages for The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries.” Somerhalder, who plays the titular character for the past six seasons, took some repetitive bites on his Instagram account to expressed his feelings during the past few weeks.

In a report from Jobs and Hire, the 36-year-old actor and model has been waxing nostalgia about his more than half-of-a-decade stint in the supernatural tv series. One image showed a television show ranking during the early days of The Vampire Diaries’s as it bested “Lost” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” Somerhalder captioned the post with, “The good old days…Look what was #1!!!!! Thank you for 6 years on the air!!!!”.

Another photo he uploaded which messed around with Salvatorre’s future consequence in The Vampire Diaries’ Season 7. It was a throwback picture of himself from Season 1 in all his Damon Salvatorre glory.

With these speculations up on the air, will Ian Somerhalder’s former flame Nina Dobrev who portrayed Elena Gilbert return to the land of the living?

Somerhalder and Dobrev relocated their character’s passion for each other off-screen in 2010 but went their separate ways in 2013. Their continued friendship on the CW series set has been the blunt of jealousy from Somerhalder’s then-girlfriend-now-wife Nikki Reed. It paved the way for Dobrev to indirectly forced herself out of the tv show.

According to The Franchise Herald, Reed is still green-eyed with Somerhalder’s ex-girlfriend and her new found happiness, that she had her husband unfollowed Dobrev on his Twitter account.

Dobrev though has insisted that she won’t be in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 6 in order for her to explore more of her acting capabilities. Dobrev and Reed use to be good friends before the latter dated and got married to the former’s ex-beau.

Fans of Elena Gilbert can remain hopeful as The CW head honcho himself Mark Pedowitz has made it clear that Dobrev’s character is still thriving as the network will welcome here anytime she wants to return.

“She is welcome back any time she wants to come back,” Pedowitz revealed to People.

“The Vampire Diaries” will return to CW in October.
