It has been more than a decade since “The Incredibles” braved the big screens and warmed everyone’s hearts with the story of the Parr family. While many fans thought that a sequel would never take place given the years that passed by, Brad Bird recently raised everyone’s hopes up with a confirmation that a sequel was in the works.
Now, the director offered some new interesting updates to “The Incredibles 2,” including some answers to the sequel’s possible release date in theatres. Speaking to Collider, Bird revealed that the story arc for the “The Incredibles” sequel is already done and he is already three-quarters of the way done with the movie’s script.
Bird did not exactly give a release date for “The Incredibles 2” but the director seemingly hinted that the sequel was originally slated to come out after “Cars.”
“In terms of the release date, we were originally – Incredibles was supposed to happen after Cars, and our wheels just happened to click a little earlier so they moved us up. Release dates are a little fluid when you’re making films so far in advance,” he said.
Master Herald noted that Disney Pixar still has a lot of animated movies in the works, which leads most fans to believe that the sequel may come out before or after June 15, 2018.
However, it looks like many fans and news outlets misunderstood Bird’s statements about “The Incredibles 2” coming out before “Cars 3,” as the director’s representative clarified that Bird was only trying to cite a previous instance from the original films and not the movies’ sequels.
