Singapore-Chinese actor Chin Han has joined the cast of “Independence Day 2” movie, which is now filming in New Mexico. The film director Roland Emmerich announced the news on social media.
Roland Emmerich, the director of “Independence Day 2” announced through a message on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday (June 2) that Chin Han would join the cast of the film. It is previously reported that the other cast of the film includes Maika Monroe, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Vivica Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Liam Hemsworth.
According to report from Variety, “The Dark Knight” star, 45, will play as the leader of the Chinese Space Squadron in the film, the source reported. The actor has previously worked with Emmerich’s “2012” movie.
It should be noted that the actor has done an excellent job in his other international roles “Restless,” “Contagion” and upcoming IFC production “The Spoils Before Dying.” He was also nominated for Variety‘s Asian Star of the Year Award in 2013.
Business Standard said Chin Han, “joins Jessie Usher, Liam Hemsworth, William Fichtner and Charlotte Gainsbourg as new additions to the movie franchise. Jeff Goldblum, Brent Spiner, Vivica A Fox and Judd Hirsch will all reprise their roles from the first film.”
The Straits Times said that the director had posted on Facebook and Twitter, “Super excited to officially welcome Chin Han to the cast of #IndependenceDay2 @TheChinHan.”
The shooting of “Independence Day 2” has already been started in New Mexico. It is reported that the movie is set for release on June 24, 2016 , during the 20th anniversary of the original film.
The director Roland Emmerich confirms the lead role of Chin Han in this upcoming 2016 American science fiction disaster film. Not only the director was “super excited” by the news, the fans of Chin Han will also be thrilled.
