‘Indiana Jones 5′ Update: Steven Spielberg Wants Harrison Ford To Reprise The Role

“Indiana Jones 5” was neither confirmed nor was it ruled out completely. Makers have been talking about it for a while now and it has been a continuous point of discussion amongst fans as to who will now lead the franchise after Harrison Ford practically immortalized the character. Director Steven Spielberg just revealed who will star in the next Indiana Jones.

According to Cinema Blend, when Disney bought Lucasfilm, the studio also lent its hands on one of the most popular franchise in the world, “Indiana Jones.” For sometime now speculations were ripe about a fifth “Indiana Jones” film and after getting a confirmation earlier this year that a fifth installment is under consideration, everyone’s attention went towards who the protagonist of the franchise will be?

Will Harrison Ford return? Will they cast someone new? Whenever they talked about someone new, Chris Pratt turned out as the sole contender who would prove to be Harrison Ford’s successor. With Steven Spielberg now commenting about what plans he has with regards to “Indiana Jones” franchise, the speculations will probably stop.

According to the veteran director, he wants to make “Indiana Jones 5” with Harrison Ford reprising his role since Ford has tied with Tom Hanks on the number of movies they have done under Spielberg’s direction. He also joked about doing another movie with Tom Hanks so that there would be a balance between the no. of movies he does with Ford and Hanks.

Even though, this might not mean anything, it at least gives rise to a few possibilities. Harrison Ford was about 65 when he filmed the fourth movie and going by his present age and form, he might as well pull a fifth one because quite honestly it would be very hard for fans to see anyone else donning the legendary fedora and the whip. As far as people who think he shouldn’t star in the fifth one, they will still love him in that avatar once it is confirmed.
