Yes you read it right, “Iron Man” star, Robert Downey Jr. is actually mentoring John Boyega, up and coming English actor included in “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens”. Read on for more details.
In an interview with V Magazine, Boyega shared, “I’m being mentored by Robert Downey Jr. at the moment. He’s helped me prepare for how my life is going to change and that has been inspiring. I’m talking to someone who understands the power of choices, both positive and negative.”
Regrettably, the “Attack the Block” actor did not reveal the exact words of wisdom from “The Avengers” star. Keeping their blossoming “bromance” on the down low is totally understandable.
Who would not listen to Downey Jr.? Not only is he one of the most successful performers in Hollywood, he has proven that it is possible to overcome even the hardest struggles an actor could encounter in his life and career. Talking about his recovery from substance abuse, “Iron Man” revealed that he first used marijuana at six-years-old.
He had admitted growing up being surrounded by drugs. The substance abuse continued even when he was already making a name in show business. It became a great concern when the substance abuse caused him to be repetitively fired or not considered to be employed for roles because of his problem.
Now that he has won the battle against drug addiction, he is now the “highest paid film star in the world”, as confirmed by Forbes Magazine, revealing that he earned $111 million in the past year—alone. (via Cinema Blend)
It is debatable if Downey Jr. demanding to be paid that much (in spite of his immeasurable talents as an actor), really worth that amount of money but linking him to rising star John Boyega, the latter can without contest learn a thing or two, career and life-wise from the more veteran actor. Particularly now that the “Star Wars” movie trailer is getting a lot of praise, and with a huge premise of impending stardom, Boyega needs the “guidance” Downey Jr. can provide.
Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18.
