“Dumb and Dumber To” was one of the most anticipated movies of 2014. Having waited for the return of the two lovable characters Lloyd and Harry since their first movie in 1994, many looked forward to their reunion. While it wasn’t exactly the best of all reunions, there is reason to believe “Dumb and Dumber 3” might be in the books.

At the premiere night of “Dumb and Dumber To,” Jeff Daniels was interviewed about the idea of a third movie. After enjoying his reunion with Jim Carrey, Daniels admitted that a “Dumb and Dumber 3” sequel wouldn’t be so bad. As a matter of fact, Daniels would be excited to sign up for the movie right away.

“I love the Farrellys, I love Jim. There’s great value in making people laugh 20 years ago and I hope now. And (if) you get to do it again, you get to do it again,” explained Daniels on Cinemablend.

Following this revelation, Peter Farrelly also shared that he would be interested in making a third sequel, just not in the near future. Apart from Daniels’ reunion with Carrey, this was also a project that Farrelly shared with his younger brother, Bobby. In total, the Farrelly brothers have already made 11 films together.

While “Dumb and Dumber To” was a movie that drew close to the Farrellys, a third sequel just wasn’t in the books anytime soon. Having written and helmed the original comedy pic in 1994 and its sequel, Farrelly believes that this would be a project they could revisit in a much later date.

Back in the premiere night of the movie, Farrelly shared that a potential third film may only happen once “Dumb and Dumber To” would become a success in the industry.

If ever a third movie would happen, the problem would be to convince Carrey to do the movie again. A year before the sequel was confirmed, Carrey had pulled out from his role because Warner Bros. showed very little enthusiasm for the movie. This led Daniels to withdraw from the movie too since he only wanted to return to the movie as long as Carrey was on board.

With the reviews “Dumb and Dumber To” have received, a third film just might not be happening anytime soon. What do you think? Will you be looking out for a third sequel? Or should the filmmakers leave it at that?
