“iZombie” Premiere “Pilot” aired on Tuesday, Mar. 17, 2015, at 9:00 p.m. on The CW. The episode kicks off with Olivia “Liv” Moore taking care of patients experiencing trauma. She is commended for a great job in reviving a patient. Read on to know what her colleague-rival, Marcy, tells her.
Marcy invites Liv to a party. However, Liv rejects the invitation. Later, Liv’s fiance, Major, tells Liv that he wants to elope with her. Liv tries to ignore the topic by saying that she is invited to Marcy’s party. Eventually, she decides to go.
Then the worst happens. The boat party becomes chaotic because of the fire. A zombie outbreak starts, and Liv tries so hard to outrun the monsters.
The scene shifts to Liv waking up near a lake. She coughs out water and unzips the body bag to get out. Suddenly, she craves for brains.
Months later, Liv is at a grocery store to purchase a DVD about zombies and a bronzer because of her pale skin. When she got home, her family suddenly welcomes to her to an intervention. Her mother, Eva, tells her that working in a morgue is so depressing and hopeless. She also insists that Liv’s breakup with Major will eventually make her feel regret. Peyton interrupts to tell Liv that she has changed a lot since the lake party and criticizes her routine of watching television for the whole day.
Now, it is concluded that Liv’s family has no idea with her condition. It was when Peyton said that they keep on thinking that Liv has PTSD. Liv tricks them by saying that she has a post-trauma syndrome.
At the morgue, Ravi approaches Liv to share about a “cool injury.” He shows her the corpse of Jane Doe, which was found on a garbage truck. He gives Liv some instructions on what to do with the dead body because he is going to take an important call. Here is the morbid yet fun (kind of) part: Liv takes Jane Doe’s brain out, heats it in a microwave and eats it together with noodles while watching TV.
Ravi is obviously aware of Liv’s condition when he asked if drinking hot sauce is common with zombies. The thing is, Liv has no idea about Ravi’s knowledge. Ravi admits knowing it since the gang banger victim, Raoul Cortez. He explains that he found Raoul’s brain half-gone. After checking every dead body Liv has worked on, he confirms that his assumptions are true. Then he explains that the zombie outbreak was man-made because of a drug.
In a flashback, a guy offered Liv the drug Ravi was talking about. Liv said no but got affected with the chaos because of a scratch on her arm.
In the present, Liv explains to Ravi that eating brains makes her sane. Suddenly, Detective Clive enters the room and asks about Jane Doe. He says that he found handcuffs with her. Meanwhile, Liv experiences a flashback when she saw a woman arrested for shoplifting. Detective cooperates with Liv after knowing it, asking if the woman she saw had a tattoo. Liv says yes, and Ravi confirms that it is true. Ravi explains to the detective that Liv is a psychic. Liv realizes that the brains give her memories and dreams.
Hours later, Liv experiences another vision of Jane Doe being chased by a guy named Johnny Frost. Turns out, Johnny is a weatherman on Channel 11. Clive and Liv visit his workplace to show a photo of Jane. Johnny completely denies knowing her. Then a woman named Tess comes to the equation after talking with Johnny. Clive and Liv also find out that Jane’s real name is Tatiana.
During the investigation, Liv realizes that she also inherits the behavior of Jane. She manages to speak Romanian and starts to have the desire to steal things. When Clive and Liv reached the balcony of Jane’s home, Liv sees a vision of Jane screaming to a guy that she does not have it. After that, the guy throws her out of the balcony. Liv can feel the pain of Jane’s death. She starts to have genuine concern to solve the case.
After a long and complicated investigation, Liv finally solves the case. The bottomline is, Liv is pretty handy to the cops because of her ability and “undead” body. After all, you cannot kill a walking corpse.
Later at night, Liv finally sleeps well. Suddenly, she wakes up to see a vision of a guy who got killed because a drug pusher. That drug pusher is same as the one she saw on the party.
