One of the highest honors for a celebrity is to have their talents be appreciated by a prestigious awarding body like that of the Oscars. And also, to be given a chance to perform onstage, like of Jack Black, is not exactly an offer that anyone can easily reject.
On Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, the Oscars show producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan announced that among the performers for the 87th Academy Awards ceremony is actor and singer Jack Black, who is reportedly planning on doing a special performance for the night.
“Jack Black is a complete original comic voice and we’re beyond thrilled that he has agreed to join the Oscars show in a very special sequence,” the two producers said in their official statement. Other details on Black’s special sequence are still kept under wraps as of the moment and will definitely be looked forward to by the ceremony’s star-studded audience and many TV viewers.
Black’s performance in the upcoming Academy Awards is marked as his fourth time to grace the stage to perform. His latest Oscars performance was during the 81st Academy Awards back in 2009 at the Kodak Theater.
Black is well known for starring in the movies “High Fidelity,” “School of Rock” and “King Kong.” He also served as the voice actor of Po, the main character of the animated “Kung Fu Panda” movie series. With regard to his music endeavors, Black is part of the comedy rock duo Tenacious D which he formed back in 1994 with friend Kyle Gass.
The 87th Academy Awards night is to be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, under the hosting of Neil Patrick Harris. The ceremony will be featured live on TV by the ABC Television Network at 7:00 p.m. In addition to this, it will also be featured in other countries worldwide.
