Jake Gyllenhaal Beats Nathan Fillion In Polls For The Top Choice To Play Green Lantern/Hal Jordan

It didn’t work for the first time when Green Lantern was brought to the silver screen in the form of Ryan Reynolds. The actor himself beat a lot of other good contenders for the role but despite that the movie somehow couldn’t make an impact. With DC Extended Universe declaring an amazing line up of movies till 2020, and major DC characters being cast, one can’t help but notice the absence of “Green Lantern.”

The character that is very much a pivotal figure in the “Justice League” and his very own movie “Green Lantern Corps” might soon need an actor to play the character. After the failed debacle of Ryan Reynolds version, there are many actors whose name has come up for the character’s DCEU reboot. There were some media outlets that also compiled a list of actors who could take on the role of Green Lantern while some chose to hold polls for the same.

Heroic Hollywood was one such outlet that ran a poll about who could play the role of Green Lantern. Ever since the media outlet posted the poll across their different social media platforms, answers came out in the favor of Jake Gyllenhaal and declared him as the top contender for the role.

Surprisingly, according to the media outlet’s poll, Gyllenhaal beat Nathan Fillion aka Richard Castle for the first place. Before this, Chris Pine was being considered for the role and he even reportedly met Warner Bros. executive so that he could take on the role of Hal Jordan, but it was later revealed that he chose to play Steve Trevor in the upcoming “Wonder Woman.”

Movie Pilot compiled one such list and included names like Jake Gyllenhaal, Armie Hammer, Oliver Hudson, Matt Bomer, Josh Duhamel, Ashton Kutcher, Bradley Cooper and Seann William Scott.

Latino Post on the other hand seemed to be more inclined towards having the John Stewart version of Green Lantern on screen as it suggested that Tyrese Gibson was one of the frontrunners for the roles and the rebooted version of the superhero would debut in 2017’s “Justice League” and go on to star in “Green Lantern Corps” in 2020.

Whoever ends up as the next Green Lantern, audience would surely look forward to see the Green Lantern’s light shine all over again.
