Jake Lloyd, who played the role of young Anakin Skywalker in “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,” was arrested for leading police on a high-speed chase.
According to SBS, the former child actor was arrested in South Carolina last week. Colleton County Sheriff’s Office said that the 26-year-old actor was charged for failing to stop for a police car’s blue flashing light.
Based on the statement from the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, the police chased the Lloyd with high-speed. It was after he started passing cars with a high-speed in a reckless manner, endangering the safety of the motoring public on the road. The actor deviated from the road, drove through a fence, and stopped after colliding into some small trees of a wooded area, said the police.
Colleton County Sheriff Sgt. Kyle Strickland told NBC News that the officers arrested Lloyd for leading police on a high-speed chase, for driving without a license, and for reckless driving. The NBC also reported that Lloyd was held on US$10,700 bail at the Colleton County Detention Center. Strickland also told NBC that the reason why Lloyd tried to evade the police is not clear as he was not on drugs or intoxicated.
AP reported that Lloyd told the police that his name was Jake Broadbent, which is his real name. The source also reported that the Colleton County Sheriff Sgt. Kyle Strickland said, “He starts passing cars on the double yellow line.”
Lloyd has starred in other films such as 1996’s “Jingle All the Way,” opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger and 2005’s “Madison” in addition to “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.”
Has Jake Lloyd might go melodramatic while he was driving on the road? We will wait and see whether the actor opens up about this issue later.
