Another miniseries is moving forward in its development phase, as HBO’s upcoming mini series, “Show Me a Hero,” just added three new talented actors — James Belushi, Terry Kinney and Michael Stahl-David — to their roster. Read on to learn more about this story.
According to Deadline, James Belushi, Terry Kinney and Michael Stahl-David are all set to join Catherine Keener and Oscar Isaac in the six-hour HBO miniseries, “Show Me a Hero.”
The miniseries was based on a book with the same name written by Lisa Belkin and was published in 2000. The book, set in the 1960s, tells the story a struggling young city mayor, Nick Wasicsko (Oscar Isaacs), who is ordered by the federal court to build some low-income housing buildings in the predominantly white neighborhood of Yonkers, New York. Things don’t become easy for him as he is thrust into the middle of a racial controversy, which tears the neighborhood apart and destroys his own career.
Catherine Keener, (“Being John Malkovich,” “The Croods,” “Captain Philips”), according to The Hollywood Reporter, will portray Mary Dorman, a homeowner in East Yonkers who undergoes a journey and emerges from the controversy with a realization.
The new additions to the cast will be heavily involved in Nick Wasicsko’s struggle to put the housing units up. James Belushi (“According to Jim,” “The Defenders”) will be joining the cast as Angelo R. Martinelli, a six-time Yonkers mayor who lost his seat because he complied with the court’s decision regarding the housing units. Terry Kinney (“Black Box,” “Oz”), will portray Peter Smith, the director of the Yonker’s Housing Authority who made sure that the housing units would be built. Michael Stahl-David (“Cloverfield”, “The Congress,” “In Your Eyes”) will portray James Surdoval as Nick Wasicsko’s political consultant, who later on becomes a famous deal maker.
The miniseries was created by David Simon, who is best known for co-creating the television series “The Wire.” It will be written by David Simon and William F. Zorzi, who will executive produce it along with Nina Noble, Gail Mutrux and Paul Haggis.
