The race for the next James Bond still goes on. Even though for some time, it has been rumored that Daniel Craig might just return to reprise his most iconic role. Now, a new contender seems to have entered the race.
Victoria star Tom Hughes is the new entrant in the race for the next James Bond. Reports mentioned that he has joined the likes of Aidan Turner, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba and others.
The Week reported that a handful of well-known actors have been placed on the list for the next James Bond contenders. However, it seems Tom Hughes’ name is the latest one to join. The actor is currently starring in ITV’s Victoria and is also in the good books of Bond producer Barbara Broccoli.
From what is known, the makers are still considering Daniel Craig as their first choice. But if he does not return for a fifth Bond movie, they will start looking for fresh new faces to take on the role. Since Broccoli has seen some of Hughes’ work, she is impressed with him and looking to see if he is up for the role.
In the BBC mini-series titled The Game, the actor played the role of an MI5 operative in 1970’s London. His role is called upon to investigate and save the UK from an imminent threat.
When Hughes was asked about the prospects of him becoming the next James Bond, he stated that it is the very flattering thing to even be asked that but he would strongly consider it as an option if he were to be asked.
Apart from Tom Hughes, other contenders like Aidan Turner, Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hardy, James Norton, Michael Fassbender and Chris Hemsworth have been in the running for the next James Bond. But it remains to be seen if Daniel Craig will reprise his role or not.
