James DuMont joined the cast of the upcoming film “Jurassic World,” as per The Hollywood Reporter’s (THR) report. DuMont was known for his appearances in various television shows, including “House,” “Numb3rs” and “American Horror Story: Coven.” He also starred in several films like “S.W.A.T.,” “Ocean’s Thirteen,” “The Butler,” “Along Came Polly” and “The Dallas Buyer’s Club.”
“Jurassic World” will serve as the fourth installment of the “Jurassic Park” franchise. The idea was first coined by Steven Spielberg in June 2002. Actors Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum, who played Dr. Alan Grant and Ian Malcolm in the previous films, expressed their intentions to reprise their roles. However, the film went through nearly a decade of what producers call “development hell,” remaining in development while not being able to progress to the production stage. Nevertheless, the idea was revived, and at the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con, Spielberg announced that preparations for the movie’s production were in progress.
Set 22 years after the events in the first film, “Jurassic World” takes place in Isla Nublar, one of the islands in the films where the dinosaurs live. The island is now owned by Patel Corporation, and it now features a fully functional dinosaur theme park. Decline in park attendance would push its management into creating a new attraction that would eventually lead to disastrous consequences. Meanwhile, the park’s on-site staff Owen (Chris Pratt) is conducting a behavioral research on Velociraptors. James DuMont’s role in the upcoming film is yet unannounced.
“Jurassic World” is set for release on June 12, 2015. This was due to a disagreement between the writers and Universal Studios that delayed the initial date of June 13, 2014. Aside from James DuMont, the movie will star Chris Pratt (“Bride Wars,”“Zero Dark Thirty,” “The Lego Movie”) as Owen, Bryce Dallas Howard (“The Village,” “Lady in the Water,” “Spider-Man 3”) as Beth, Jake Johnson (“Get Him to the Greek,” “21 Jump Street,” “Neighbors”) as Lowery, Nick Robinson (“Melissa & Joey,” “Boardwalk Empire,” “The Kings of Summer”) as Zack, Ty Simpskins (“Insidious,” “Insidious: Chapter 2,” “Iron Man 3”) as Gray and Irrfan Khan (“Slumdog Millionaire,” “The Amazing Spider-Man,” “Life of Pi”) as Patel. The film is directed by Colin Trevorrow and produced by Patrick Crowley and Frank Marshall.
