Jane Lynch Divorce Finalized
Jane Lynch on December 4, 2008.

Jane Lynch's divorce from ex-wife Lara Embry was finalized on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014. The actress has been ordered to give Embry a property settlement of $1.2 million, to be paid in installments over the next two years. Her ex-wife is also entitled to half of her fortune, including royalties from her television appearances and her tax refund. Embry also gets to keep their dog, Francis, and their Los Angeles yacht club membership. Lynch will be keeping their house.

TMZ gave a breakdown of the divorce settlement. In addition to $1.2 million, Embry will be getting:

  • half of the contents of Lynch's bank and trust accounts: $847,485
  • half of their retirement fund (401K): $315,079
  • half the takings from the former couple's Mullholland Tennis Club membership
  • half of the royalties from Lynch's television appearances
  • half of their tax refund: $56,810

Embry initially requested that Lynch give her a monthly alimony of $93,809. The clinical psychologist said that the actress' income “increased dramatically” during their marriage and that she would like to maintain the lifestyle that they have both become accustomed to. This includes $40,000 in monthly credit card expenses, $12,000 for vacation expenses and $6,500 for clothes, among other things. However, the request was turned down in court.

Despite the figures, Lynch insisted that she and Embry have remained friends and that the split has been an amicable one. The actress is close to Embry's 10-year-old daughter, Haden, from a previous spouse.

Lynch and Embry got married in 2010. The couple met a year prior to their wedding rites. Lynch filed for divorce in 2013, citing irreconcilable differences.

Lynch, 54, is best known for playing Sue Sylvester in “Glee,” which started airing on FOX  in 2009. One of the show's producers, Bryan Murphy, announced that the show will wrap up after Season 6, following the death of one of their permanent cast members, Cory Monteith.

The actress has hosted “Saturday Night Live” and “Hollywood Game Night.” She also starred in “Oh Sister, My Sister,” an award-winning play.
