Jared Leto gets a new haircut. And no, he did not just opt for a trim, he snipped off his entire ombre locks and shaved his flawless beard!

In preparation for his role as Joker, Leto got a new haircut for his upcoming role in “Suicide Squad.” Director David Ayer first teased fans of Leto’s new do on his Twitter account. He held a pair of scissors to the actor’s ponytail, with the caption, “Should we? #SuicideSquad.”

His next tweet simply read “#SuicideSquad” with a photo of a very rugged looking Leto, rocking much shorter strands and no beard.

Cutting off his hair was probably not much of a big deal to Leto as compared to his dozens of heartbroken fans. As NY Daily News previously pointed out, the 43-year-old lost more than 30 pounds to play an HIV-positive transsexual in his recent film, “Dallas Buyers Club.”

Leto’s stylist Chase Kusero might have heaved a sigh of relief, now that his long hair is gone. Speaking to Into the Gloss, he revealed that it had been difficult to style Leto’s long locks while maintaining his masculinity.

“It’s really important that he doesn’t look like a woman, that’s the biggest challenge,” he shared.

Kusero added that they did not envision Leto’s hair to be put on a spotlight, considering that the actor had several other admirable traits…but well, it just happened!

“It’s hard to have him not end up on the ‘best hair’ lists and that definitely hasn’t been our intention. He does have amazing hair, so it’s kind of inevitable,” he explained.

“Suicide Squad” is scheduled for release in 2016.
