Aquaman has been the butt of numerous jokes over the years, often referring to him as an impractical member of the Justice League. Shows like “South Park” and “Family Guy” even have episodes dedicated to it just to highlight the innuendos but what does actor Jason Momoa have to say about all this? Read on for more details.
King Orin also known as Aquaman, the Atlantean King of the underwater city of Atlantis, (via DC Comics Extended Universe Wikia) will be making his movie debut in “Batman v Superman” before his solo starrer.
According to a recent IBTimes article, Momoa was asked what he thought about the jokes at a recent fan expo in Canada.
“It’s cute and funny. People make fun of him. There’s a bunch of jokes about him, but I’m like, ‘Just wait. Let’s just wait a little bit, and then you can make jokes.” Momoa said.
Reprising the role of Aquaman, with previous portrayals by Alan Ritchson (“Smallville”) and Justin Hartley in a 2006 “Aquaman” pilot, how does the infamous Khal Drogo of “Game of Thrones” feel about it?
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly on what to expect, Momoa said that the mythology of Aquaman is pretty amazing; with so many things to tell, and that a lot of surprises are coming. He is “really honored to be playing it” and is excited for the whole world to see it.”
Eager moviegoers just might have to wait and see.
“Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice,” where Momoa will co-star with Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Jesse Eisenberg, and Gal Gadot is slated to open in Mar. 2016.
The solo “Aquaman” film, starring Momoa and directed by James Wan (“The Conjuring,” “Furious 7,” and “Demonic”) is scheduled to release in July 2018.
