“Survivor: Worlds Apart” Season 30 finally ended on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. However, fans still could not get enough of what happened in the finale. Good thing Jeff Probst revealed some juicy details viewers would surely love. Read on for Probst’s interview with Entertainment Weekly.
The consistent Mike Holloway became the ultimate Survivor. Probst commended him as an obviously “good player.” He explained that Holloway planned his moves carefully, was a hardworking and “gracious” man and gave his “1000%” in all challenges. He was satisfied knowing that Holloway won the season.
Next, Probst revealed that opening statements were cut in the last Tribal Council to avoid redundancy after the jury questions. He thought it was “respectful” because the jury was “treating the finalists the way they would want to be treated.”
Like most reality stars’ sentiments, Dan said in the reunion how badly edited some of the scenes were. In an episode, he appeared to tell Rodney that his mother is “a whore.” He explained that before the harsh comment, there was a 30-minute “yo mama” showdown. However, Probst defended the show by showing the raw footage. Not one single joke about mothers was heard. Probst had no choice because of Dan’s negative attitude.
Way before the 30th season finale, promos circulated on TV and social media about the next season’s all-stars. Probst was forced to break the bad news to former castaways who were not chosen by the voters to return. He admitted that it was a hard thing to do.
“Every one of them earned a ton of respect from me and I hope we find a way to put them on in a future season,” Probst told ET.
Despite the sad part of learning the new batch of contestants, Probst was satisfied with the audience’s choices. He even revealed that he was “pleasantly surprised” with some chosen ones. He said he was happy that three players from Australia and Borneo made it.
