Jenna Bush Hager and Mom, Former First Lady Laura, Collaborates On Another Project

Another children’s book is underway from former first lady Laura Bush and Today correspondent, Jenna Bush Hager. Read on for more details about this exciting new project from the mother and daughter team.

As was revealed to the Associated Press, HarperCollins will be publishing “Our Great Big World” in May 2016. The book is a picture story about a young girl “who learns o see what’s really around her” and is the duo’s second collaboration to be written together, as “Read All About It!” was released in 2008. The main character Jane, goes on a trip with her family to visit national parks and as she is “paying attention to the majestic sights and spending less time looking at her screen.”

The theme is very much relatable to authors. Jenna, who is now a mother to two girls: Mila, 2 and Poppy, 2 months; while Laura is a volunteer co-chairwoman, along with present First Lady Michelle Obama, for the National Park Service centennial celebration next year.

“I’ve hiked with childhood friends in the parks for years,” Laura said in a statement given to the Associated Press. “Jenna accompanied me on a float trip through the Grand Canyon and rode a horse for the first time when she was 3 near the Big Bend National Park. I want all children to go outside, play in nature, and explore America’s magnificent sites with their families.”

According to the New York Times, Jenna also said that: “Writing this book has allowed me to see our beautiful country through the eyes of a young girl, and I have loved every minute. It was even sweeter since I wrote it with my mom.”

“Our Great Big World” will be coming out to correspond with the National Park Service centennial.

A portion of the book’s proceeds will be given to the National Park Foundation. HarperCollins declared that it will plant over 1,000 trees to concur with the book’s release.
