“Doctor Who” Series 8 wrapped up with what seems to be an epic finale yet hinted a separation between Peter Capaldi and Clara (Jenna Coleman). Then their Christmas special aired, and it left us with hope that Coleman might not leave the show. Read on to learn more about this scoop.
The good news is, Coleman is returning for another series of “Doctor Who.” Admittedly, the show’s writer intentionally let fans think that Coleman isn’t returning, but in reality, he was just fooling around. In addition, Steven Moffat also mischievously titled the Christmas Special “Last Christmas,” which led Whovians think that Coleman isn’t returning to the series anymore.
“It’s wonderful to have a whole other series with the Doctor. For me, I couldn’t walk away with the story being unresolved. There’s so much more to do, I think. They’ve finally reached a point where they understand each other,” said Coleman in the Telegraph interview.
Capaldi is also thrilled that Coleman is staying and thinks that she’s an amazing addition to the show.
“There was a certain amount of to-ing and fro-ing. It occurred to us all that we don’t start shooting until January, so for once we could keep the end of the Christmas episode a proper secret,” added Moffat.
Some fans, industry insiders and politicians were already given a sneak peek on what’s to come in the series during the special screening last December 2014. Ont the other hand, they were asked to sworn not to spill the beans. The mysterious and genius Moffat never fails to fuel the anticipation.
Fans can now bask in the warmth of Coleman’s return in the show and the excitement for the many more adventures that she and Capaldi would share in the coming episodes. We just can’t imagine the show without Coleman. How about you?
