It’s Jennifer Aniston to the rescue. The “Friends” co-star is tired of living in a “very sexist society” who only cared for women who are pretty.
The actress has just joined the number of celebrities that set their put down and called for equality among genders.
“Women are still not paid as much as men. I’ve been up against that in negotiations myself,” she was quoted in saying as she was promoting her recent film, “Cake.”
Aniston, however, declined to further elaborate on the issue.
The 45-year-old also addressed Hollywood’s skewed perception towards beauty. She came to Renee Zellweger’s defense saying that the public had always been fickle when talking about body images.
“I really do think you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. You either are too fat, ‘Oh my God, she’s gained weight, getting chubby, mid-40s spread! or ‘She’s so skeletal, get some meat on her bones!’” she explained.
The actress added that the public’s reaction on Zellweger’s new look was “unnecessary.”
The “Bridget Jones Diary” star recently sparked rumors of having a bit of cosmetic surgery done. Many assumed that the actress had gone through the doctor’s office to have a face lift that and reduce all the noticeable fine lines.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Zellweger slammed the plastic surgery rumors, calling them “silly.” She said the change was brought about by being more “happy and fulfilled” with her life. She added that she was just learning how to take care of herself better and took on a healthier schedule.
Aniston was definitely with her on this one. She even said she could not see what the fuss was about as Zellweger did not look that different.
“Would she walk into a room and you’d say, ‘Who is that?’ That’s Renee, from here on down. You can’t hide those pouty little lips,” she said.
