NBC’s first trailer for “Shades of Blue” introduces a new charismatic look for Jennifer Lopez that depicts JLO in a grey character full of human elements. Read the scoop to delve into the details.
Lopez posted the trailer for her upcoming cop drama Sunday on Facebook, giving a first look at her morally conflicted character, Harlee Santos. She captioned it “So proud of Shades of Blue. Can’t wait for you all to see it. Check out the trailer now! “Who we think we are and who we turn out to be… are they ever the same?” #FirstLook #ShadesOfBlue
The newly-released action-packed trailer will hear the “Booty” singer tell her colleague, “I’ve been known to improvise, creative police work”. Unlike her public image, the 46-year-old diva can be seen shooting her partner to stage a crime scene and getting busted by the FBI in the series. This will be after a long time that Lopez will be seen in this avatar since her “Out of Sight” days. (via Business Standard)
Barry Levinson, who won an Oscar for directing “Rain Man”, directed the pilot. The 13-episode series is Lopez’s first lead role on a TV show since the 90s, when she appeared in CBS’ crime show, “Hotel Malibu”.
Here is the NBC description of the series: Lopez stars as sexy NYC detective and single mom Harlee Santos, who fell in with a tight-knit group of dishonest cops, practicing red tape and taking protection money that she uses to raise her virtuous and talented daughter. When she’s cornered by the FBI and forced to talk against her own “brothers,” she’ll have to choose between love, loyalty, honor, and betrayal but try to keep it together for her daughter’s future.
The trailer shows Lopez’s character taking a step too far outside the lines of lawfulness in one of her crime fails, leading her to get arrested by the FBI. She is forced to become a federal informant, deceiving her lieutenant Matt Wozniak, played by Ray Liotta. Liotta plays her boss who would do anything to protect his team–it even includes hunting down the identity of the informant.
The other names from the cast ensembles are Warren Kole, Dayo Okeniyi, Drea De Matteo, Hampton Fluker, Vincent Laresca, and Sarah Jeffery. The NBC drama will premiere on January 14, 2016.
