Rivers had a long outstanding career and she worked assiduously to be able to live the way she. And she lived the life her own terms setting an example for others to follow. Rivers is honored in W’s October 2014 “Royals Issue” and  the magazine has shared a portrait of Joan from that last portfolio.

The sensational portrait was shot by ace photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Joan also sat down with the magazine’s Editor Lynn Hirschberg and opened about various aspects of her life. Her black-and-white photograph in W magazine is absolutely elegant. The portrait flawlessly summarizes Joan’s fortitude. In the photo, the comedienne wore a fur and she was covered in various pieces of jewelries.

“I’ve always been an outsider, and that’s OK,” said the ground-breaking comedian while taking with W’s editor Lynn Hirschberg.

“I’ve never been invited to the White House. I’ve never been given awards. I’ve never been to the inside of anything. My maid was invited to the Vanity Fair Oscar party, and she asked if she could borrow a wrap! My comedy has made me a total outsider, but that is what has kept me sharp all these years. To be relevant, you have to be an outsider,” continued, Rivers

She also invented the contemporary red carpet interview. She was so respected and liked everyone even by those who she took pleasure in poking fun for their imperfect fashion choices. The E! Channel has declared that Friday, Sept. 19, 2014 is officially named as  “Joan Day.” Melissa Rivers appeared Thursday night on a special 90 minutes episode of E!’s “Fashion Police,” to talk about her late mother for the first time since the star passed away.

Ms Rivers, dressed in black, sat down for an interview with her mother’s co-hosts, Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic and George Kotsiopoulos and opened about the various aspects of Rivers’ life, many hearts she had touched and many lives she has changed in her lifetime. 90 minutes special also episode featured exclusive moments from the “Fashion Police.”

Fans are going to love this portrait of the legendary star. Indeed it is a brilliant way to remember Joan. Our thoughts and prayers remain to be with her family, friends and fans around the globe.
