It seems like Captain Jack Sparrow had stolen the heart of the kids as he happily visited them in a full pirate costume.
Though the Hollywood star Johnny Depp has a lot of things to do in filming the latest installment of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tells No Tales,” he still took time off to make a private visit to a a children’s hospital.
The 52-year-old actor visited sick kids in Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in Brisbane – a place where newborns and children up to 16 years of age are treated- after a busy day of filming scenes on the Golden Coast set.
The Oscar nominee actor, who arrived in full costume in the hospital did a meet-and-greet visit with the young patients; had a chat, gave hugs and took selfies, much to the delight of the young patients. They were face-to-face with the captain of the ship himself!
According to a report in Mail Online, there were series of sweet snaps of the star’s hospital tour and it was taken by JuicedTV- a show made by the children being treated at the hospital. The 30-minute weekly kids TV show often features interviews with celebrities who visit the place.
However, Depp’s visit was supposed to be private. He tried to keep it controlled and had asked the staffs not to publicize what he was doing, but we know how fans react when they see a famous star roaming around the corner… photos of him soon emerged on social media.
One of the lucky kids who got to meet Depp was seven-year-old Max Bennet. The young boy suffers from transverse myelitis, a rare neurological disorder which had him in an induced coma and on life support just weeks ago.
“He was going from room to room seeing all the kids who couldn’t get out of bed,” Max mum, Ms. Bennett said. “It was really beautiful. Everyone kept on trying to move him on, but he kept on coming back” to be with the kids,” she added.
