Jon Favreau shares a sneak peak of Disney’s upcoming adaptation, "Jungle Book." Read on for further details.
Jon Favreau shares the behind-the-scenes look on his newest project with Disney, a 3D live-action adaptation of the "Jungle Book" through Instagram. It contains a silhouetted figure, which is safe to assume to be Mowgli, traversing a what seems to be a foggy landscape.
"Jungle Book" is Disney’s latest addition to its live-action/animation hybrid films and is based on a collection of stories by English author Rudyard Kipling. The plot follows Mowgli, a feral “man-cub” raised by wolves in the Indian jungle, as his friends, a panther named Bagheera and Baloo, a bear, try to convince him to leave the jungle before the man-eating bengal tiger, Shere Khan, arrives. Favreau will be directing from a script penned by scribe Justin Marks.
The live-action film adaptation will feature a star-studded cast, which will lend their voices to the colorful characters of "Jungle Book." Bill Murray will lend his voice to the fun-loving bear Baloo; Ben Kingsley will voice the worrisome panther Bagheera; Christopher Walken as King Louie, a ruler of a troop of monkeys; Scarlett Johansson will voice the kaleidoscope-eyed hypnotic snake Kaa; Lupita Nyong’o to voice the wolf Raksha, mother to Mowgli; Giancarlo Esposito as Akela, leader of the wolf pack; and Idris Elba will voice the man-eating tiger, Shere Khan. Newcomer, Neel Sethi, will be playing the iconic lead Mowgli.
On the other hand, Warner Bros. will also try to make an adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s novel, setting a date for the officially titled “Jungle Book: Origins.” The film feature will be helmed by director Andy Serkis, and the screenplay is penned by Callie Kloves. The pic will hit theaters on Oct. 21, 2016, a year after Disney’s October 2015 adaptation and will face off against Universal’s Untitled Blumhouse Horror 3.
The 3D live-action adaptation film is set to open in theaters on Oct. 9, 2015. That’s it for Disney’s upcoming classical animation, “Jungle Book.” For more updates on upcoming movies, stay tuned here on Movie News Guide (MNG).
