As filming for “Mad Men” has wrapped up last July, its star, Jon Hamm, is now free to take on new projects. The actor will be starring next in a special Christmas presentation of one of UK’s most unique series, “Black Mirror.” Read on for further details.

This Christmas, Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”), Rafe Spall (“One Day”) and Oona Chaplin (“Game of Thrones”) will be seen together in a special 90-minute episode of “Black Mirror,” which will air on Channel 4 in the UK.  The story will feature three different angles, interwoven with techno-paranoia that the series is known for. Filming will start on the first week of October.

“I am beyond thrilled to be a part of the Black Mirror Christmas Special. I have been a massive fan of the show since its inception. Its dark humour and intelligent observation of our society and values hooked me deeply as a viewer and I’m honoured that Charlie and the rest of the creative team have asked me to participate in wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas,” said Hamm in a press release published on BBC.

Created by Charlie Brooker, “Black Mirror” showcases how use of technology in this modern world can create a different set of problems in society.  The anthology series, which has run six episodes since its inception, are delivered as stand alone episodes, much like mini-movies, with different stories and different cast per episode. The show has earned such interest among fans of unique and different stories that back in January 2013, it was reported that Robert Downey Jr. was planning on adapting one of its episode into a full-length movie.

Brooker, a journalist and broadcaster, said that having Jon Hamm do the Christmas special is a huge present for the show.

House of Tomorrow, alongside Endemol, which distributes the show worldwide, produces “Black Mirror.” The show, which first aired in 2011 on Channel 4, has been sold for broadcasting in 80 countries, including Australia, Italy, Spain, China and the United States, where it airs on DirectTV.

In 2012, the show received the Best TV Miniseries award from the International Emmys panel.  Check out the trailer below.
