Justin Bieber did it once again. His latest album “Purpose” is ahead of One Direction’s “Made in the A.M.” for the No.1 rank on the Billboard 200 albums next week chart.
From the recent trends and industry forecasters, it seems that Bieber will soon have his 6th No. 1 album. According to several sources, “Purpose”, his new album that was released on November 13, could top the Billboard 200 chart on December 5. The rank would be for the week ending on this month’s 19th.
About 450,000 units will be from Justin Bieber’s album sales. If the sales from Bieber’s latest album is as per expectations, it can be his biggest sales week to date. This will then surpass even the figure of 374,000 from “Believe”, that was released in 2012. Nielson Music has given these figures.
“Made in the A.M.”, the 5th studio album from One Direction is aiming for the No. 2 spot in the same chart. About 425,000 units will be coming from only album sales for them.
There are still several days left for tracking week and things may change. For instance, Beyonce may suddenly release her new album or 1D could always march ahead, and so on.
“Made in the A.M.” and “Purpose” have both been performing much better than forecasts made before their release. Both these albums from industry stalwarts have made around 300,000–only from their album sales.
If both these albums (“Made in the A.M.” and “Purpose”) progress according to the forecasts being made, this would be the first instance in about six years that sales of above 400,000 for two different albums by two artists took place during the same week.
The last time it happened was on December 20, 2009, when Alicia Keys and Susan Boyle both sold above 400,000 in the same week for their respective albums.
Team MNG wishes Justin Bieber all the best for his new album’s magnificent success.
