Justin Bieber is known for his close ties with Floyd Mayweather, but reports reveal that the Canadian born singer has placed his bets on Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao in the upcoming Pacquiao-Mayweather fight on May 2. Read on to learn more about this scoop.
Has Justin Bieber had a change of heart? Justin Bieber recently met eight-division boxing champion, Manny Pacquiao in an Apple store in Los Angeles, reports Rappler.
The outlet shared a photo of Bieber and Pacquiao posing for the camera. While Bieber might have mocked the boxing champion in the past, the “Baby” singer is said to have placed his bets on Pacquiao.
“I think and realize though that Manny Pacquiao has a chance to win and beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. in this coming mega fight and I will be putting my $2 million for sure on the WBC and WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao,” Bieber allegedly declared according to local news site, Manila Livewire.
Apparently, this doesn’t seem to be the case.
Bieber showed up at the news conference held on Wednesday, March 11. Bieber came just in time for the photo op and even hugged Mayweather, showing that he’s still loyal and supportive of his long-time friend.
According to TMZ, Bieber was “glued” to Mayweather’s hip as soon as Mayweather and Pacquiao posed for the cameras.
So yes, Bieber and Pacquiao may have shared a photo or two with each other, but that doesn’t mean that he’s already on Pacquiao’s side. In 2012, Bieber even took his support for Mayweather to social media and made fun of Pacquiao’s fight against Juan Manuel Marquez.
According to LA Times, Bieber posted a series of memes criticizing and mocking the boxing champion, including an image of Simba reaching for Pacquiao when he fell flat on his stomach.
Telegraph reported that several Philippine lawmakers wanted the “Never Let You Go” singer banned from the country and be declared “persona non grata,” should Bieber fail to apologize.
The Floyd Mayweather Manny Pacquiao fight will take place on May 2, 2015. At the press conference, Mayweather said that it will be the “fight of the century,” writes Mirror.
The outlet cited that Pacquiao is “100 per cent confident” to win the fight against Mayweather.
