Europe loves itself some Justin Bieber. The singer dominated MTV’s recent European Music Awards, with five top awards, and he did all this whilst looking exactly like EMA host and OITNB actress, Ruby Rose.
Justin Bieber won the EMA for Best Look, an award we think he should have shared with Ruby Rose, since they looked exactly the same on Sunday night. Rose, who was co-hosting the EMA’s with British musician Ed Sheeran, donned a matching red and white ensemble as she interviewed the man of the hour, Justin Bieber according to Billboard.
Bieber and Rose met in person for the first time, but they had struck up their friendship on twitter a while back. It was also based on their similar appearance. But the comparison was striking on stage Sunday night, as Bieber received the award for “Best Worldwide Act: North America” from Rose.
The two even joked about their matching sartorial choices, as Rose commented that none of her ten outfit changes that night were Bieber inspired. Bieber, never one to let a bon mot opportunity slip by, retorted saying:
“I think you were copying me.”
But Bieber’s EMA domination was evident with the reception of five awards: Best Male; Best Look; Best Worldwide Act: North America; Best Collaboration for his work with Skrillex and Diplo on “Where Are You Now?”; and the Biggest Fans prize (where he closely beat the runner up One Direction).
(Incase you missed it, Variety has a helpfully published a full list of the award recipients)
Rose, on the other hand, was hosting with an injured leg: a calf muscle torn five times on set while shooting for her latest outing: “Resident Evil: the Final Chapter.” That did not, however, dissuade her from toting fire-slingers, or engaging in a bout of arm-wrestling.
Ed Sheeran, on the other hand, held up cuddly props.
