Many were surprised and thrilled to see Ariana Grande perform onstage, all the more when Justin Bieber also stepped up onstage and sang along with her (although he did forget some of lines). But why exactly did they pull off the surprise duet?

On Saturday, March 28, Ariana Grande was performing in Miami, in part of her ‘Honeymoon’ concert tour. And surprise, surprise, Justin Bieber was also in the house that night! The two then went on to sing Grande’s song ‘Love Me Harder.’ However, Bieber forgot some of the lyrics and apologized for it later. They also sang together Bieber’s own hit songs ‘All That Matters’ and ‘As Long As You Love Me’. As it so happens, ‘As Long As You Love Me’ is a collab song between Bieber and Grande’s boyfriend Big Sean, so Grande was all up for singing his part.

With the concert ending up in a blast, people have been asking what exactly made Bieber step right up onstage and perform alongside Grande that night?

As it turned out, the performance was the idea of Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun, who thought that making Bieber step up onstage again after a rather long time would reconnect him with his fans. And since he is also Grande’s manager, it probably wasn’t too much trouble to sneak in Bieber into her performance.

An exclusive source for HollywoodLife.com also added that he has been worried of Bieber lately since he’s been hanging out more in nightclubs than rehearsing, so what better way to get him back on track by putting him onstage for a bit and let his fans encourage him to perform again?

Another apparent reason for the performance was also to encourage people to watch ‘The Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber’ which aired on Monday, March 30. “… [With] everyone talking about this performance, Justin is in the news, people are looking for him online, and will be reminded to tune in to see more of him when the Roast airs,” the source added.

Well, everything sure worked out for the best for both Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande! Good idea, Scooter Braun!
