The 34-year-old singer and songwriter and his wife, Jessica Biel, attended the GLSEN Respect Awards in Los Angeles on Friday, Oct. 23, 2015.
The couple received the “Inspiration Award” for their long-lasting commitment to improving children’s lives and for being vocal supporters of the LGBT community. Timberlake and Biel use their profiles to raise awareness amongst their fans.
GLSEN stands for the “Gay, Lesbian, & Straight Education Network.” It is an organization that pursues to end bullying, harassment, and discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender expression, and identity in K-12 schools in the United States. Yahoo Style chief, editor, and stylist Joe Zee was the one who presented the award to the couple.
When Biel accepted the award, she thanked the organization for everything that they do to ensure that every kid’s individuality is protected, respected, and treasured in schools.
“We want to thank you for leading the way to make our schools more safe, and for inspiring us for all of our children,” Biel said.
On the other hand, Timberlake said: “Even with all the trouble in our world today, this movement clearly is winning and is going to keep on winning. Thank you for starting a trend, a change. A change that one day will make it possible for our own son to grow up and thrive in a world where… all he has to do is just be himself.”
When the couple took the stage, the couple joked about being out for the night. “Thank you for allowing mommy and daddy to have a really good night out together,” Biel said.
“With adults. Honey, look around, this is what adults look like. They do exist! They don’t smell like poopy diapers… some of you do,” Timberlake added.
Timberlake concluded his speech with a cheeky message: “I’m going to stop talking now… because mommy’s looking hot and it’s date night. So we’re going to go home and you can figure out the rest.”
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel got married in Oct. 2012. They welcomed with their child, Silas Randal, in April of this year.
