If there’s one thing to be learnt about Kanye West, is that he is serious when you least expect him to be. The 38-year-rapper is currently ‘researching’ to be the president of the United States. Read on to find out more.
West confirmed that he is ‘definitely’ thinking of running for president in 2020. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair about West’s upcoming fashion collection “Yeezy: Season 2,” he did take some time off to elaborate his political ambitions.
“This is my theory: I think the world can be helped through design, so it’s very important that I stay around creative, forward thinkers. It’s very important that I continue to design, to be in practice of trying to make the best decisions possible. I hate politics. I’m not a politician at all. I care about the truth and I just care about human beings. I just want everyone to win, that’s all I can say, and I think we can. . . “
West also clarified that whilst in office he would NOT, in fact, give up his creative ventures. If all goes according to the rapper’s plan, USA would have its first president who also regularly drops the hottest hip-hop single of the summer.
West says he was surprised when people did not respond negatively to his presidential bid at the VMAs, and that is surprising because people react negatively every time West speaks in public. The “Gold Digger” singer also said that in a way, that was his parents’ legacy. Kanye’s father Ray West was was one of the first black photojournalists at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution., while his mom, Dr. Donda West was an English professor and used to work for civil rights organization, operation PUSH.
“I sit in clubs and I’m like, Wow, I’ve got five years before I go and run for office and I’ve got a lot of research to do, I’ve got a lot of growing up to do….. It’s fun. It’s fun to be a rock star, and I’ll never not be one I guess, but there’ll be a point where I become my mother’s child. With all the things I’ve done that people would consider to be accomplishments, what’s the point where I become the person that Donda and Raymond West raised?”
In the meantime, Kanye West’s political supporters have already launched an action committee called “Ready For Kanye”, and they are hoping he runs Republican. The group has under 100 followers on facebook and twitter, Reuters is reporting.
