The 37-year-old rapper was at the Translation’s seminar, titled “Technology, Culture and Consumer Adoption: Learning to Read the Cultural Landscape,” at Cannes on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. He was the last minute addition to the event. He was invited to present his views on brands and consumer culture.
While speaking at Translation’s seminar, North’s father diverted the discussion for a while to discuss how Kim is the only woman in the world he wants to spend his life with. He reiterated that Kim Kardashian is the only woman who turns him on. Then, he returned to talking about how he only does his utmost to work for the best in the business.
West related his longing to look out for the finest products as well as his undying attraction to his new wife Kim. During the small conversation, West also talked about the process of photoshopping his wedding kiss photo with his bride Kim. The couple wanted the wedding photos to look like Annie Leibovitz (West hired Vanity Fair’s esteemed photographer, but she reportedly backed off) and spent four days working on it. The photo ultimately set the record by becoming the most-liked Instagram picture of all time.
“But the fact that the No. 1 most liked photo has this certain aesthetic on it was a win for what the mission is — of raising the palette,” said West at Cannes, which was published on Billboard.
He also stated that Steve Jobs was his biggest influence. Kanye West’s one similarity with the late Apple founder is that he is fixated with superior savor, and outlines his quest of it in profoundly moral provisos. According to West, Jobs raised humankind to a higher level. The late Apple founder battled the evil mediocrity of Microsoft and produced the finest tech products.
West wants to accomplish the same level in music and style. According to the rapper, it’s about unification with a few attuned associates and combating mediocrity across the complete culture both online and offline.
Kanye West was plainly mocked in 2013 when he compared himself to Steve Jobs in a New York Times interview.
“People are less about the brand and more about self-confidence and how the brands can assist them, similar to what Steve was doing with tech,” said West in Cannes, which was published in AdWeek.
