Schumer, a proud aunt of a young girl and an obviously concerned citizen, insisted in her opening monologue that, “We have to be role model for these little girls” before dropping the name of the Kardashians as she pinpointed that nowadays, these little girls only have the “Kardashians” in their minds—literally making them as their role models.
She went on by critically dissing the women in the Kardashian family who are named by Cosmopolitan magazine as “America’s First Family” for their fondness of having plastic surgery.
Schumer strongly let out her thoughts in her monologue by asking the viewers about the messages that the Kardashian’s giving to girls; “Is that a great message for little girls? A whole family of women who take the faces they were born with as like, a light suggestion?”
Moreover, the “Trainwreck” actress mentioned Khloe Kardashian’s name in her monologue. She told the viewers that the reality TV star was once a relatable one in the show but then, the pressure to have a beautiful body ate her ego. She did everything from having an intense workout and rumored surgeries to achieve a body that one will definitely envy.
“We used to have Khloe, Khloe was ours, right? Whenever there’s a group of women, you identify with one of them. But then Khloe, she lost half her body weight. She lost a Kendall, and we have nothing. I want good role, models.” –Amy Schumer SNL
Meanwhile, the nine-minute opening monologue of Amy Schumer sets her SNL debut, and as expected, according to Slate, it didn’t disappoint the audience. With her “usual mix of self-deprecation and social commentary” made her performance more worthy.
