Katy Perry might have failed to release a new song on Super Bowl XLIX. She certainly was successful in throwing some serious, yet subtle, shade at Taylor Swift. Katy had been so discreet that almost missed it. Looks like the feud between the two pop stars is yet to be over. Read on to learn more about it.
Weeks before Katy’s Super Bowl performance, rumors circulated online that the “Roar” singer was planning to debut a new song called “She’s So Creepy.” The new track is allegedly her answer to Taylor’s “Bad Blood.”
But with some twist of fate, Katy decided to pull an understated diss on her rival than a much obvious one.
According to HollywoodLife.com, the singer realized that she was, after all, at the Super Bowl halftime show and “didn’t want to make it the Taylor Swift show.”
That’s why she settled on a much subtle diss and dressed her backup dancers in retro-inspired bikinis reminiscent of Taylor’s infamous red bikini from 2012.
Radar Online suggests the costumes could be in direct reference to the “1989” singer’s romantic summer with Conor Kenedy, wherein she was always spotted wearing a high-waist polka dot bikini.
In an interview with Billboard, Perry had been vocal about her ongoing feud with the “Blank Space” singer.
“If somebody is trying to defame my character, you’re going to hear about it,” Perry said in the Billboard interview.
And we sure did. The feud, after all, started when Perry allegedly stole some of Swift’s backup dancers. It’s only fitting that she’d use them to irritate her even more.
An insider told HollywoodLife.com that Katy intentionally thought of using her dancers to “piss Taylor off.”
