Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has had an elaborate plan for each character they present. The studio executive recently revealed plans for one of the new entrants in the universe.
Kevin Feige’s statement about Spider-Man
Screen Rant reported that Feige revealed plans the MCU has for the web-slinger. He stated that the plan is to give Spider-Man a five-movie storyline. This storyline will alternate between the two Avengers movies and his solo movie.
His role in the MCU began with Captain America: Civil War. This is now followed up with soon to release Spider-Man: Homecoming. After the first solo movie, Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel will see the Spider-Man fighting Thanos along with the other superheroes.
Once these movies are done, he will have Spider-Man: Homecoming 2. There is a plan for the character post the completion of these five movies but that was not confirmed yet. In between these movies, Feige stated that Spider-Man’s state of mind will also come into play.
Since there are chances the wall crawler will end up losing some superhero friends in Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel, it would change his state of mind in some way, which could have a significant change on the character.
In the aforementioned line-up of five movies, the second movie is releasing soon. Captain America: Civil War paved the way for the character. It was also Marvel’s way of seeing how fans react to the character.
The responses were great and so are the early reviews for Spider-Man: Homecoming. It was his performance that led to a more consolidated line-up of movies. These movies will mainly focus on the young superhero’s life as he continues to balance student life and his superhero career.
Significance in MCU
Spider-Man’s journey has just begun. He might not be a central character right now but he will be in the near future. Reports have been speculating that some old MCU characters will meet their end in Avengers: Infinity War.
So if these characters are approaching their end, MCU will need new heroes who will be able to anchor it moving forward. Chances are, the line-up of heroes will change once Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel wraps up.
Other than Spider-Man, new heroes like Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel and Ant-Man have joined the MCU, hinting a new line-up.
Future in MCU
His future in MCU is bright. As mentioned above he will become more significant when the current phase ends. With the fourth phase coming into play, new heroes will start factoring in. Once they factor in, they will be dominating the line-up.
Chances are, Spider-Man’s wish of finally becoming an Avenger will also turn to reality in this phase. He could be part of a new Avengers team formed post the events of Avengers: Infinity War and sequel.
One of the older heroes could also help this new team in some way. Since Iron Man and Captain America’s future is unclear, it remains to be seen if they become this new team’s patron or someone else steps in.
Plot and release date
Spider-Man: Homecoming is all set to release. It will take his story further from the events of Captain America: Civil War and will see him getting groomed by Iron Man. This would also be a journey of the hero as he tries to prove to his mentor that he is not just a child.
Spider-Man: Homecoming releases on July 7.
