Sutherland, who recently wrapped up “24: Live Another Day,” which was filmed in London, will star in the episode entitled “Marked” for “Playhouse Presents.” The story features James (Sutherland), who gets himself involved in a dangerous business to make easy money and pay off his debts. Hired by his neighbor who will be played by Kevin McNally (“Pirates of the Caribbean”), James is supposed to kill a man in exchange for loads of cash. He thought he could do this job, but when he gets to the house of the man he is supposed to hit, he realizes that not everything appears to be right. Then he sees his target and realizes why. The target, the last person James hoped to see, will be played by Stephen Fry, who has also worked with Sutherland on “24: Live Another Day.”
“When Stephen and Kiefer agreed to do a Playhouse Presents … It was like all my Christmases rolled into one. Their enthusiasm to work together is evident and it echoes our own customers’ enthusiasm for amazing and inspiring drama. Sky is committed to working with the best, whether that is great actors, writers or directors, and giving them the freedom to create great work with gusto,” said Phil Edgar-Jones, Sky Arts’ director in a statement published on Sky Art.
“Marked,” the one-off drama, is written and directed by Greg Ellis and produced by Fry along with Gina Carter and Jo McClellan. The series “Playhouse Presents” has been a good vehicle for many acting debuts, as well as unprecedented appearances. Model Cara Delevigne did her first TV episode for this series in “Timeless.” Most recently, American TV star Matthew Perry (“Friends”) also did an episode entitled “The Dog Thrower,” which aired in May 2014.
“Playhouse Presents” features both drama and comedy, with the episodes taking only thirty minutes to unfold. Sky Arts is a specialized British channel featuring art-oriented programs.
