We have seen Marvel Cinematic Universe grow; inception of the DC Extended Universe, but probably the best is yet to come. Recent reports reveal that the fans will be able to see two monster universes “King Kong” and “Godzilla” collide in an epic crossover movie.
According to Geek, the two titans will find themselves under one roof as Legendary Pictures Head Thomas Tull has moved “Kong: Skull Island” to Warner Bros. who also happen to be the producer of “Godzilla.” It is being reported that Legendary originally, intended to do the movie with Universal but moved to Warner Bros. to start this shared monster universe.
The idea with “Kong: Skull Island” is to kick start a new story and then bring in the other monster for Kong to fight. The latest adventure of King Kong, “Kong: Skull Island” will hit the theaters on March 10, 2017 where a planned “Godzilla” sequel will debut in 2018.
Initially, stars like J.K.Simmons and Michael Keaton were said to star in “Kong: Skull Island” but that deal never materialized. Ultimately, the current star cast of the movie, including Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel Jackson and Corey Hawkins took shape and were confirmed to star. Max Borenstein and John Gatin have been roped in to write the script while Jordan Vogt-Roberts will be directing the movie.
Realty Today added that “Kong: Skull Island” will reportedly start production by the end of this year or early next year. Though the crossover film will be highly awaited, it should be noted that this isn’t the first time both the monsters are facing off against each other. They clashed back in 1962 in a Japanese film titled “King Kong vs. Godzilla.”
With the kind of technology and special effects being used today, fans will only expect the best of the showdown between the two monsters. As of now it remains to be seen how the makers will do that with this epic crossover movie.
