The Knick” Season 1 Episode 6 “Start Calling Me Dad,” will air on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at 10:00 p.m. on Cinemax. The worst has happened for the Gallingers, and Dr. Edwards’ career may be on the line. Find out what will happen in the latest episode of the series. But before that, let’s do a quick recap from last week.

In “They Capture the Heat” (air date: Sept. 12, 2014), Dr. Thackery (Clive Owen) and Dr. Edwards (Andre Holland) shared a brief and civil moment together, after doing an early morning operation successfully. The two even managed to have a small talk and have a puff of cigarette.

Dr. Gallinger (Eric Johnson) has not reported for work, but he was in the hospital, tending to his sick child. The baby has contacted meningitis, which was the result of Gallinger’s carelessness.

Dr. Chickering (Michael Angarano) worked with Dr. Thackery on another patient with placenta praevia, and they once again failed at this procedure. Meantime, Chickering took guts asking Nurse Lucy (Eve Hewson) out, but then it has been hinted that Lucy may also be smitten by Thackery, when the two shared a playful moment. She taught Thackery how to ride the bicycle.

Barrow (Jeremy Bobb) had negotiated with the board for two new x-ray equipment, which should help the Knick do better diagnosis.

And finally, Sister Harriet (Cara Seymour) and Cleary (Chris Sullivan) bonded over their discussion of abortion, after turning down a woman in Chinatown who was seven months pregnant already.

Spoiler Alert: “The Knick” Season 1 Episode 6 “Start Calling Me Dad” airs on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at 10:00 p.m. on Cinemax.

As the Gallingers grieve and Everett takes off from work to console his wife, Dr. Thackery and Dr. Chickering will go over a new procedure in the hopes of correcting many failures the surgeons have done at the operating theater.

Meanwhile, Cornelia will address her status as the soon-to-be Mrs. Philip Showalter. She’s becoming less eager to marry her beau. Plus, Dr. Edwards will get a surprise in his underground clinic. Will this mean that his secret operation in the basement will be in jeopardy?

The sixth episode is written by Jack Amiel and Michael Begler, with Steven Soderbergh as the director.
