One of the much-awaited films of the year, “Knight of Cups,” is included in the 2015 Berlin International Film Festival line up. Directed by famed director Terrence Malik, the film has the powerhouse cast of Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Natalie Portman. The trailer for the new film has just been released, and it was everything we hoped and more.

A brand-new plot synopsis for the "Knight of Cups" has also been released. It reads:

Once there was a young prince whose father, the king of the East, sent him down into Egypt to find a pearl. But when the prince arrived, the people poured him a cup. Drinking it, he forgot he was the son of a king, forgot about the pearl and fell into a deep sleep. Rick's father used to read this story to him as a boy. The road to the East stretches out before him. Will he set forth? (via The Verge)

The trailer, as previously reported by First Showing, depicted the "excess of Hollywood, and all the craziness that comes with it."

“Knight of Cups” was both directed and written by Malick. The film marks his return to the Berlin International Film Festival, since he won the Golden Bear in 1999 for "The Thin Red Line."

His last major festival film was "To The Wonder," which debuted in Venice in 2012, a year after "The Tree Of Life" won the Palme d'Or in Cannes.

Unlike other Hollywood directors, Malik tends to be very secretive of his personal life. He refuses interviews, avoids the premieres of even his own films and has the talent of evading photographers that TMZ gave him the title “Hollywood bigfoot.”

In recent interview with Collider, actor Antonio Banderas shared what it was like working with the elusive director. He said that he did not receive a script prior to shooting the film because he wanted the actors to “feel free.”

“He said, ‘Well, there is no script. We are just working as we go.  I am creating the movie as I go. I invite you to play.  Feel free.  Just relax and enjoy acting.  If you even have any idea, please just throw it out.’”

"Knight of Cups" premieres at the 2015 Berlin International Film Festival on Feb. 5, 2014 before opening in theatres worldwide.
