Kobe Bryant is all over the news now in the sporting world because of he announced his impending retirement after the current season. But before this, he has been in the center of the hot seat due to the different news coverage about how badly he played in his last games and he must indeed think of retiring. One of the star players, who look at him who is Kevin Durant, backlashes at the media because of the alleged unfair treatment.
Durant went to explain how upset he is with the recent news about Bryant and how media chooses to focus on his bad game.
“I’ve been disappointed this year because you guys [the media] treated him like s—. He’s a legend, and all I hear is about how bad he’s playing, how bad he’s shooting and it’s time for him to hang it up. You guys treated one of our legends like s—, and I didn’t really like it. So hopefully now you can start being nice to him now that he decided to retire after this year.”
In the most straightforward remark, Durant also said that the press people don’t understand the life of the athletes.
“They say I don’t get the media and how they work. Well, they never got players and how we work,” Durant stressed out.
According to Welcome To The City, Durant had been honest with the media ever since before. It can be recalled that in his All-Star game the previous year, he shared how frustrated he was with them in talking about his injury. He resorted to writing articles for the Player’s Tribune in order to defend himself from the perspective of the public.
No one can blame Kevin Durant for feeling that way primarily that he sees Kobe Bryant like a childhood hero whom he idolizes so much.
