This year has begun with massive hits like Kong: Skull Island, Logan and Sing. These are some the movies that have literally crushed box office with their astonishing success. All of them belong to the different genre and have a varied target audience. Since they are still doing fairly good business at the box office it seems that these are going to retain their top position for a few upcoming weeks.
Kong: Skull Island’s Critical Success
Jordan Vogt-Roberts directorial monster film Kong: Skull Island has received positive reviews from critics. It has already grossed $392 million worldwide against the production budget of $185 million. It is a reboot of the original King Kong franchise that stars Tom Hiddleston in the lead role. The film has done a fairly well business as it was already projected earlier. In fact, the figures that finally came out were even better of what was expected.
Kong: Skull Island follows the story of a group of scientists and Vietnam soldiers. They are off to an undisclosed location of the Pacific Ocean in a chartered plane. But they are attacked by King who is actually the guardian of the island and is worshiped by the local people.

Logan’s Critical Success
The superhero film Logan has turned out to be one of the best films in this genre. This film has successfully managed to gross $565 million worldwide against the production budget of $97 million. Merely, in the first 13 days of its release, it crossed a whopping figure of $440.9 million.
In fact, most of the film reviews subtly mentioned that this is one of the best superhero movies and praised the performance of Hugh Jackman unanimously. He plays the role of a physically improved mutant with the power of accelerated healing; also he can deal with his age and ailment without any support. Furthermore, it was a very special film as it was Jackman’s final appearance in the role of Wolverine. Logan is applauded for the portrayal of characters which holds great coherence with storyline throughout the film.
The film follows the story of Logan who gets stumbled upon something from his past. It starts with his cruel past and his distorted relationship with his half-brother, Victor Creed.

Sings’s Critical Success
Illumination Entertainment’s musical comedy animated film Sing is reigning box office at the moment. According to the latest update by Forbes, the film has grossed a worldwide collection of approximately $600 million. In addition to this, the film has received positive reviews from both critics and fans. it is directed by Garth Jennings and includes voice cast of Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane and Scarlett Johansson.
It revolves around the story of a singing competition which is hosted by a koala to save the sinking business of his theater. A group of anthropomorphic animals participate in the contest but are confused with the amount of prize money. But, the assistant by mistake adds two more zeroes in the prize money of $1000. Despite so much of hullabaloo, the optimistic Koala is able to save the theater and rebuild it.
The film has a bunch of 60 awesome classic songs by various artists. In addition to this, the film is absolutely a musical charm and has several melodious music tracks. However, Sing was released against Jennifer Lawrence’s sci-fi film Passengers and Michael Fassbender Assassin’s Creed.
Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures announced a sequel for the movie which will be coming out in 2020. The film is under development and so far nothing much is known about the sequel.
