The episode picked up right after the events of the previous episode, “The Last Ship” Season 2 Episode 6 “Long Day’s Journey”. Inside the compound, Lieutenant Ravit Bivas (Inbar Lavi) informed Commander Thomas “Tom” Chandler (Eric Dane) that she believed that the new President of the United States, Jeffrey Michener (Mark Moses), seemed as if he was being held against his will. After realizing that having him meant that Sean Ramsey (Brian F. O’Byrne) could control an entire nation, and maybe parts of the world, Ravit, Lieutenant Carlton Burk (Jocko Sims) and Chandler came up with a plan in order to get Michener onto the USS Nathan James.
Meanwhile, Senior Chief Wolf Taylor (Bren Foster) informed Lieutenant Danny Green (Travis Van Winkle) and Tex Nolan (John Pyper-Ferguson) of the new rally point- a nearby baseball field. Later, Danny followed a particular box to a makeshift laboratory, where he saw Niels Sorenson (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) putting the virus, into liquid form into various small plastic bottles. Tex and Danny then followed the convoy led by Ned Ramsey (Nick Court) and Niels in order to see what they were up to.
Back on the USS Nathan James, Executive Officer Mike Slattery (Adam Baldwin) ordered the ship to quietly move towards the mouth of St. John’s River, where they could launch the helicopter to extract their men on the ground, undetected.
Meanwhile, Dr. Rachel Scott (Rhona Mitra) experimented on some mice to see how effective their powdered cure would be, but discovered that it would lost its potency as soon as it hit the ground.
Back inside the compound, thanks to a little flirting, Ravit discovered that Michener was going to be brought to New Orleans that night. Because of this, Burk and Ravit caused a bomb scare inside the room where Michener was, so that Chandler could “save” him, and ingratiate himself towards them. The plan worked, and Chandler became one of the president’s bodyguards.
Meanwhile, at a trailer park, Danny volunteered to give an infected teddy bear to one of the children inside, as part of Niels’ experiment to discover who the Immune were in that place. He then told the little girl there to run away from him, and shot the two others with him, as they didn’t want to believe that they were being lied to. Back at the convoy, Tex took Niels hostage after Niels recognized him as part of the Nathan James’ crew, and a shoot-out broke out, which resulted in Ned and Niels getting shot. However, Tex, Danny and Niels managed to escape, and headed towards the baseball field.
Inside the compound, before Chandler, who realized that Michener believed in Sean, could get Michener alone, sirens sounded, causing them to evacuate the president, which led the three to fight off Michener’s bodyguards. After taking the president hostage, with Taylor’s help, they managed to escape the compound. Before leaving in the helicopter, Danny burned all the teddy bears soaked with the virus except for one, which Tex presented to Rachel, after they were successfully extracted from the baseball field.
With the president in holding, Chandler told Slattery that they were going to use Sean’s plan to their own advantage. It was now their turn to use the President to believe them, as they had the cure, and the leader of the United States of America.
