“The Last Ship” Season 2 Episode 12 “Cry Havoc” aired on Sunday, Aug, 30, 2015, at 9:00 p.m. on TNT. In the penultimate episode of the season, Sean Ramsey’s (Brian F. O’Byrne) submarine and the USS Nathan James go neck to neck, as they tried to outwit and outmaneuver each other, as they both headed towards an epic battle with each other. Meanwhile, Dr. Rachel Scott (Rhona Mitra) managed to introduce the contagious cure to the world, and Executive Officer Mike Slattery (Adam Baldwin), and the away team with Rachel and President Jeffrey Michener (Mark Moses) raced against time to go against several Immunes with a weapon that could potentially lead to the USS Nathan James’ defeat. Read on to learn more about this episode.

Due to the losses that they had just incurred because of Sean Ramsey’s (Brian F. O’Byrne) propaganda against them, Commander Thomas “Tom” Chandler (Eric Dane) decided to end things with Sean and his submarine once and for all.

Chandler then told President Jeffrey Michener (Mark Moses) his idea. It meant that they would only have one shot at getting back at the submarine since they could only use the retooled sonar, which now ran on more power, for a very short amount of time. Chandler then told the president that just in case anything happened to them, he was sending the president, Dr. Rachel Scott (Rhona Mitra) with the cure and her doctors and Ray Diaz and his band with an away team led by Executive Officer Mike Slattery (Adam Baldwin), so that they would remain safe. They would also be accompanied by Lieutenant Daniel Joshua “Danny” Green (Travis Van Winkle), Senior Chief Petty Officer Wolf-Taylor (Bren Foster), Lieutenant Carlton Burk (Jocko Sims), Tex Nolan (John Pyper-Ferguson), Petty Officer Second Class Cruz (Ness Bautista) and Seaman Miller (Kevin Michael Martin).

Before they left, Danny said goodbye to Lieutenant Kara Foster (Marissa Neitling) and the baby and promised to return.

Once they reached land, they immediately set up camp. However, while waiting for word from the ship, the entire party sat in tense silence.

Meanwhile, under the supervision of Lieutenant Alisha Granderson (Christina Elmore), Valerie managed to tap into her network, and began to flood it with disinformation regarding the whereabouts of the USS Nathan James, in order to remove the civilian blockade that now stood in their path. They also used this to their advantage in order to be able to send the submarine to a battleground of their own choosing. This, however, worked, as there was no more blockade barring their path. They then used the sonar for a bit.

Back on land, Rachel, despite everything, decided to help a sick family with a little girl, that was passing by their camp. Because of this act of kindness, the girl’s mother and father told them that the Immunes were setting up a weapon big enough to destroy the USS Nathan James near their current position. Slattery, Green, and Tex then left to disable this new weapon, leaving Burk in charge. While they were away, Dr. Milowski (Bruce Novick) documented the little girl’s progress, as she got better and better. It meant that Rachel’s cure was a success.

Meanwhile, after several moments of the submarine and the ship trying to figure out where they were, they both suddenly discovered that they were at the same position, with the Nathan James just above the submarine.

The Nathan James then advanced, and so did the submarine, who fired torpedoes as they began to dive. However, Chandler managed to have several torpedoes fired, which hit the submarine. However, as they had no sonar, they couldn’t tell how badly hit the submarine was.

The ship itself was damaged as some of the torpedoes hit them, causing them to flood a particular area.

However, as the submarine surfaced right in front of them, Slattery, Tex, and Danny managed to commandeer the missile launcher that the Immunes had, and fired on the submarine. That, plus the rounds that the ship fired towards the submarine, caused the submarine to sink. It lead to the demise of Sean, his brother, and his crew.
