WARNING: This article may contain spoilers for the upcoming episode of TNT’s “The Last Ship”, Season 2 Episode 9 “Uneasy Lies the Head”. Read on to learn what else happens to the crew of the USS Nathan James.
Just when Dr. Rachel Scott (Rhona Mitra) and the crew of the USS Nathan James thought that things would get a little bit easier, they were once again presented with challenge after challenge. It was after the entire crew shifts back into helping Rachel with whatever she needed in order to mass-produce the cure on the ship.
According to the official press release of the episode on Spoiler TV, the Lieutenant Carlton Burk (Jocko Sims), Commander Thomas “Tom” Chandler (Eric Dane), and the rest of their team were once more threatened by the Immunes. It was after the fallout of their broadcast that they were dangerous. They encountered a group of survivors who wanted to claim their bounty by capturing them while looking for more supplies for Rachel. This once again proved that the Immunes, whether present or not, still remain to be a big threat against their mission.
This was further emphasized in the short promotional clip of the episode that was released on Spoiler TV, as a survivor, upon encountering Burk’s and Chandler’s team in a building that looked like a smashed up laboratory, announced that their leader wanted them “alive.”
Meanwhile, on the ship, after struggling with trying to figure out a better way to mass-produce the cure, after the failing to create an aerosolized version that would retain its potency when released into the air, decided , much to her chagrin, to let her nemesis, Niels Sorenson (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) help her, as the two of them were the only ones in the planet brilliant enough to understand how the virus works.
In the promotional video that was shared on Spoiler TV, Rachel called the quandary that she was in the “unsolvable puzzle”. Thus, Rachel will have to, against all odds, rely on the man who began it all, and who doomed the entire human race.
Do you think the combined brain power of Niels and Rachel will be able to figure out a solution to spread the cure in a faster and better way? Do you think that Niels will whole heartedly help her? Where do his loyalties lie? Do you think Chandler should have just continued pursuing Ramsey and his men so that the Immunes would no longer be a threat to them and their mission?
