With only four more episodes to go for the second season, TNT’s summer action packed and post-apocalyptic drama “The Last Ship”, still has several surprises up its sleeves in terms of what fans and viewers should expect for its upcoming episode, and in terms of the series itself, as an announcement has finally been made with regards to the show’s fate for next year’s summer season.WARNING: This article contain spoilers for “The Last Ship” Season 2 Episode 10 “Friendly Fire”, which will air on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 9:00 PM on TNT. Read on only to learn more about the show’s fate, and to learn about the upcoming episode.

It seems like Commander Thomas “Tom” Chandler (Eric Dane), Dr. Rachel Scott (Rhona Mitra) and the rest of the crew of the USS Nathan James will be saving more survivors, and will continue on with their mission of trying to rebuild a post- apocalyptic, post-plauge, America and world, as it has just been announced on Deadline that the show will be returning for duty once more for a third season.

According to the report, just like its previous season, the Michael Bay produced series’ third season will have thirteen episodes.

This, of course, is largely due to the fact that the show, once again, with regards to ratings, has come out on top in the 25-54 demographic for this summer.

Meanwhile, the second season, which is now in its last stretch, is continually building up the tension between the crew of the USS Nathan James and the Immunes, who are determined, now more than ever, to destroy the cure that they carry so that they would remain at the top of the world’s new social order.

Now, with the President of the United States on their side, the USS Nathan James continues full steam ahead to New Orleans, where the Immunes had planned to establish the nation’s new Immune capital.

According to the synopsis and press release of the upcoming episode on Spoiler TV, Lieutenant Alisha Granderson (Christina Elmore) will manage to decode an important message on one an Immune’s cellphone, and with President Jeffrey Michener’s (Mark Moses) intelligence and leadership, the crew arrives in the Big Easy, only to learn that Sean Ramsey (Brian F. O’Byrne) hasn’t yet run out of tricks up his sleeve for them.

The Immunes’ “surprise” for them wasn’t stated, but according to the promotional video of the upcoming episode on Spoiler TV, it seems like Sean’s submarine has been repaired and is raring for action, as Sean, in the submarine, is shown telling the USS Nathan James that they now have more enemies that they can handle, and as Lieutenant Kara Foster (Marissa Neitling) proclaimed that they had been hit by one of Sean’s submarine’s torpedos.

While this is happening, things become a little bit complicated on the ship as mistrust is suddenly in the air due to the suspicious death of Niels Sorenson (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). The promotional video on Spoiler TV showed that Dr. Rachel Scott (Rhona Mitra), who is now closer than ever to finding a way to create a cure that would be spread through a person’s lungs, is the primary suspect as she had been with him last.

What do you think the Immunes have in store for Chandler and the crew in New Orleans? What do you think of the new President of the United States? Do you think that Rachel was justified in killing Niels in the name of science and the cure? What do you think about the show getting renewed for another season? What do you think will happen next to the crew of the USS Nathan James and Dr. Rachel Scott? Let us know your theories and what you think in the comments below!
