Is Laura Prepon Leaving ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Because of Scientology?

Laura Prepon who plays Alex Vause in the Netflix hit series “Orange Is The New Black” is reportedly rethinking her role. Does this mean she isn’t going back for Season 4?

According to, Scientology hinders Prepon to play her role as a lesbian in “OITNB.” This is because those who practice scientology doesn’t support the gay lifestyle and although Prepon is not against the gay community, she does take her religion very seriously. A source said that Prepon doesn’t want to be a gay icon.

Prepon has been with “Orange Is The New Black” since it was first aired on Netflix, which is why this news of her possibly leaving the show due to her religion came as a shock to fans. However, Gossip Cop was quick to debunk the story saying that Prepon has no plans to leave the series. They said that Preppon assured them that there is no truth about her leaving the show and her religion doesn’t affect her career. She even revealed that her chosen religion has helped improve her acting skills, specifically the role she plays in “OITNB.”

Currently, Prepon is filming “Orange Is The New Black” Season 4 and she has been sharing photos while onset on her Instagram account.

If that’s the case, then there is no truth at all about her leaving the series because of Scientology. However, her fate on the show is still unclear, because any one could be gone at any point of time depending on the storyline. But we do love Alex Vause! And I can’t imagine “OITNB” without her!
