Read on to learn more about this episode.
According to NBC’s synopsis, the upcoming episode is a direct follow up to the previous episode, “Pattern Seventeen.” In the previous episode, Detective Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) and her partner, Detective Odafin “Fin” Tutuola (Ice T), collaborated with Amanda’s former boss, Deputy Chief Patton (Harry Hamlin). Afterwards, he had told her that he would see her in New York in January. He made good to his promise, as he and Detective Reese Taymor (Dreama Walker) attended a conference in New York, alongside Sergeant Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay). However, when Reese was assaulted and raped inside her hotel room, Amanda must help bring the rapist to justice, even if it meant that she had to face her own demons and her own past, as the reason for her departure was revealed to be closely linked to the Deputy Chief and the ongoing situation.
In the promotional videos that were shared by Spoiler TV, it was shown that Patton was placed on trial, and Amanda became emotional as she revealed to Olivia that Patton had raped her before.
In the first exclusive sneak peek, it was shown that Deputy Chief Patton gave a speech about cooperation, good communication and collaboration between the Police Departments of each state and cited the recent case on “Pattern Seventeen,” in which Amanda had a hand in. However, despite the fact that he and his department did not test the rape kits until they had asked them to, he had taken all the credit for the case. Afterwards, he greeted Amanda and told Olivia and Fin that it had broken his heart to let her go. He then introduced them to Detective Reese Taymor, who congratulated Olivia on her presentation. While this was going on, Amanda looked away and did not speak, as it seemed that she was upset by the Deputy Chief’s presence.
In the second exclusive sneak peek, Amanda and Olivia went to Reese at the hospital where she had been brought after she had been assaulted and raped inside her hotel room. At first, she told them that she had not been assaulted but had hit her head on the sink and was reluctant to say anything after Olivia revealed that the nurse had told them that she had disclosed some information to them. Amanda, who looked like she knew what was coming next, excused herself and walked out of the room, visibly shaken. Reese then revealed that she was not going to press charges and refused to testify as she knew that nothing would come of the matter as her assailant was none other than Deputy Chief Patton.
And that was all for the exclusive sneak peek and spoilers for “Law & Order: SVU” Season 16 Episode 10 “Forgiving Rollins.” For more news and updates on “Law & Order: SVU” and other television shows, keep following Movie News Guide (MNG).
