Lebron James is done with the preseason. The Cleveland Cavaliers have kicked-off the preseason boot camp with three consecutive losses, but Coach David Blatt couldn’t care less about their standing right now and has announced that their top gunner will be resting it out for what’s left of the exhibition season as mentioned in U.S. News.
The four-time league MVP of late didn’t play against a 107-85 loss to the Indian Pacers following his DNP status last Tuesday against the Atlanta Hawks on the campus of Xavier University in Cincinnati.
“We’re really happy with how LeBron came into camp. Came in great shape,” Blatt indicated that James was healthy as reported by Cleveland.
Blatt, who is in his second year as head coach for the Cavaliers, lengthily added that “We want to take good care of him for the start of the season. As you know in his great and storied career, he has amassed a lot of miles. We’re trying to keep those preseason miles to a minimum.”
The Cavaliers still have two exhibition games before the regular season of the NBA opens on Oct. 27, 2015. The wine-and-gold will be flying up north to visit the Toronto Raptors this coming Sunday while they will be defending the Quicken Loans Arena against a visiting Dallas Mavericks on Monday.
Starting point guard Kyrie Irving is still absent from the roster due to a knee surgery along with defense specialist Iman Shumpert sidelined with a wrist surgery. Kevin Love, who has not played ever since he injured his shoulder during the 1st round playoff with the Boston Celtics, is expected to finally be making his way back to the hard court in the Toronto game.
Meanwhile, rebounding-demon Tristan Thompson is still in a contract hold-out limbo, a matter which Lebron recently addressed via a social-media post.
The Instagram photo which showed Lebron and Thomspon wearing suits was aptly captioned with: “Get it done!!!! Straight up. #MissMyBrother @realtristan13.”
