According to AllKPop, the actor is the symbolic personality for the Arabs, after he topped a survey conducted by KBS World Radio, an international station, which is currently celebrating 40 years of the first ever Arabic broadcast in South Korea.
The survey, “Arabs Perception of Korea,” had a particular category wherein people were asked as to who is the first personality that crosses their mind if they thought about Korean.
The poll asked 3,000 Arabs across 22 various Middle East countries regarding the celebrities, culture, and their insights about Korea. Under that said category, Lee landed on the top spot winning 14.8% of the total votes.
Next to him were Hallyu stars Super Junior (10.8%), EXO (9%), Park Shin Hye (5.1%), and political figure Park Geun Hye and UN SecGen Ban Ki Moon (2.6%).
An expert on pop culture, Kim Yoon Ha, expressed his analysis on the results of the survey, “There is a strong belief that Lee Min Ho is a gentleman who doesn’t ride the popularity wave and the strength of his drama characters serves as an unconditional basis to his wide appeal.”
Also this month, he took home the most popular Korean actor award recognized by Chinese fans. In the report from International Business Times, he won the award from the Korea Brand Grand Prize 2015. This was handled by the joint efforts of People’s Daily, a Chinese publication, and Korea Consumer Forum.
Whether in China, Middle East or other nations, Lee Min Ho indeed is a huge star who positively represents Korea.
