Movies, at times, although the setting may not be in the present day, and may not have the same circumstances that most people today go through, speak the truth, and come across as an interesting social commentary, especially when it comes to a country’s traditions, which are still very much prevalent until today. Such is the case of the upcoming film of actor Lee Seung Gi and actress Shim Eun Kyung, who have just begun to film a historical romantic comedy which centers on the tradition of going to a fortune teller to help find a good spouse for a particular person. Read on to learn more about Lee Seung Gi’s and Shim Eun Kyung’s historical romantic comedy.
“Martial Harmony” or “Match Made in Heaven,” according to K Drama Stars, is a historical romantic comedy about a princess, who will be portrayed by “Cantabile Tomorrow’s” Shim Eun Kyung. She is forced to work with a highly skilled matchmaker, portrayed by “My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox’s” Lee Seung Gi, in order to figure out which of the four men wooing her is the best match for her.
However, as the stubborn and strong-willed princess believes in true love, she decides to run away from the palace. Meanwhile, Lee’s Seo Do Hoon soon discovers that the princess’ match may, surprisingly, be himself.
The four suitors of the princess, according to K Drama Stars, will be portrayed by CNBlue’s Kang Min Hyuk, Yeon Woo Jin, SHINee’s Min Ho, and Choi Woo Sook.
According to K Drama Stars, this tradition is still being used in South Korea by families and single men and women, and this is currently very much prevalent today.
According to Soompi, the film began filming last Sept. 9, 2015, and according to K Drama Stars, that particular date was chosen as the starting date by Jupiter Films, the movie’s production company, as that particular date “aligned well with the fortunes” of Shim and Lee.
Both stars are enthusiastic about the project, as Lee, according to Soompi, has said that he like Seo Do Hoon’s character from the first time he got the script; and leading lady Shim has mentioned that she likes the fact that her character will go out of her way to shape her own destiny, the way she sees fit.
This will be Lee’s first time to venture doing a historical film.
